Founded in 1998 the CMLA is a non profit association dedicated to promoting the objectives of self-identifying Muslim members of the legal profession. Our organization is includes muslim and law students, solo and small firm practitioners, lawyers at large firms, corporate counsel, lawyers serving all levels of government, academics, lawyers practising in the broader public sector, judges and other adjudicators, foreign-trained lawyers and non-practising lawyers, who are located across Canada.

Our organization also welcomes membership for Non-Muslims that want to support our initiatives from legal advocacy to networking. Our members are from all areas of the professional community across Canada including lawyers at small and large firms, corporate counsel, government lawyers, academics, and non-practising lawyers that are still interested in the law. Our past members include several current Judges.

The CMLA advocates in areas of interest to Muslims across Canada, approaching issues from a perspective informed by the legal expertise of its members.

The CMLA provides legal education in areas of key interest to Canadian Muslims.

The CMLA acts as a catalyst for networking between Muslim lawyers, other Muslim professionals and synergistic networks and organizations.
PEER SUPPORT
The CMLA provides mentorship to students, assistance with job placement, referrals.
